Eco design: giving jam jars a new life.
One of the latest trends in DIY interior design is eco design, which consists of upcycling unused products to give them a new lease of life.
The most commonly used materials and items are cardboard and pallets, which can be used to create original, customized furniture, while for decorating interiors, tin cans, tops and corks, buttons, plastic bottles and light bulbs are popular.
Another item which can be reused in countless different ways is the humble jam jar. It can be turned into a desk tidy or, if filled with sand, pebbles or shells, it can be used to add a decorative touch to any room in the home.
One unusual but highly striking solution is to use jars for mood lighting around the home or garden, turning them into elegant hanging lamps and candle holders. Simply fill a jar with some sand and, using a pretty candle, create a table centerpiece for the perfect romantic dinner.
The secret ingredient? Creativity.
